The Twisted Man

The Twisted Man
I sold it all for a pipe dream doll
and a bag of dusty weed
he had a twisted grin,
and he said it was a great deal
and i pushed on through
with my eyes closed to
the reality of the scene
and he taught me to ignore
the way i feel.
i signed my name
there's no mistake
with a red pen on the line
but i didn't read the fine print
or the bold
and when you said to me
how i used to be
it turned me into who i am
but you're saying that it just might be too late
is it too late?
this little door i wrote sermons for
the one about the righteous path
i propped my weight against it
one too many times
i've had so many excuses
but somehow they lose
their strength along the way
coz now i realize
excuses aren't reasons
and when you said to me
how i used to be
it turned me into who i am
but you're saying that it just might be too late
and you broke me down and shoved off my crown
and it smashed upon the floor
and the man underneath is so small
so unsure
is it too late?
for what it's worth i'm sorry
i kicked that man right in the teeth
and i told him that he never can return
and his lawyer lies and empty eyes
an now belong to another man
and the ones i hold for you are deep and true
is it too late?

Denial

|

Denial
i wish you could be
lost at sea
when they find you
you've lost your mind
don't remember a thing
we could start again
i would take your hand
we would get it right this time
leave our problems behind
denial
denial
denial's the thing
when truth won't make it right again
then one morning
there on the night stand
i would find a folded note
you'd be gone again
denial
denial
denial's the thing
when truth won't make it right again

Nobody's Fool

|

Nobody's Fool
i'm nobody's fool
i'm nobody's fool, except mine
except mine
accept my frailty
wake up the satellites
wake up the satellites
i hope they can see the scope of the storm
from up high, from up high
from up high
exit my fealty
wake up the satellites
wake up the satellites

Dons Her Silhouette
02:59
|
|||
dons her silhouette
tell me now how can this be
those empty eyes won't tell me
she turned it around so i could see
and as she walks, she walks away from me
and she smiles
and dons her silhouette
i've been reading through old notes
not two months past on my old phone
"baby i love you, how'd it go?"
"are you almost home, i miss you so"
now she smiles
and dons her silhouette
all the trust you had before
and all the love that filled our home
dreaming dreams and drinking tea
i didn't know how much it meant to me
so she smiles and dons her silhouette
i know there were signs i should have seen
i guess that i was a little naive
it isn't wrong to have faith in your girl
but it was wrong the way i treated her
so she smiles
and dons her silhouette
it's hard to fight from lower ground
you couldn't trust me then
can you trust me now?
you hold yourself like iron bars
to keep me out of your heart
and you smile and don your silhouette
she smiles and dons her silhouette

Stay Tuned
03:56
|
|||
i left the leaves for the firmness of the ground
i'll fill my hands from the windfalls that i found
it's a novelty at best to be left to empty rooms
and i don't know what holds me here
but i hope it leaves us soon
sounding off
sounding off
so stay tuned
i watch the days spin away like empty rinds
and speak my lines to the people passing by
i guess it's poetry that walls for you could only set me free
and i knew i'd pay a price,
but the size of it was a mystery to me
sounding off
sounding off
sounding off
sounding off
so stay tuned
